  INSTRUCTIONS FOR FROZEN SEMEN BREEDING:

1. Follow mare using transrectal ultrasound until a >35mm follicle develops and uterine edema is evident

2. Administer deslorelin intramuscularly

3. Begin serial ultrasounds (every 2 hours) 32 hours after the deslorelin injection

4. Once ovulation has occurred (usually between 36 and 42 hours), breed the mare by deep horn insemination (transrectally guided)

5. 6-8 hours post-breeding, lavage the mare’s uterus at least once and then as needed depending on the inflammatory reaction of mare
